About the Artwork
High above the tree tops, a falcon stirs from an early morning rain as the first rays of the sun shatters the dew. In the belly of the New River Gorge, a dense veil of geometric shapes falls into the chasm like pick-up sticks. The fog dissipates slightly in the distance to reveal the spine of the New River Gorge Bridge bent across the background. The heat of the morning sun unchains misty, angelic, vapor into the atmosphere. “All Eyes on the Sunrise” is the artist’s tribute to the breath taking, mystical mornings of West Virginia. Thanks for looking. Enjoy!

About the Artwork
Enter a realm of jewels and splendor in the latest visionary painting, “The Flight of Fancy” by Brian C. Zickafoose. This stunning piece originated from a series of visions that I downloaded from a DMT adventure that I embarked upon in 2008 at a party in Blacksburg, Virginia, during my time as a concert promoter in the area. The frame featured in this painting is the highlight of those visions and took 5 years in concept development before I ever laid a single stroke to canvas. I am proud to say that the finished product is a remarkably true representation of the original vision that I received, so many years ago. I spent many tedious hours hammering out this painting to see the vision through to completion and now my bejeweled insect friend exists in my dimension. I have opened a portal for you to enjoy. Thank you for looking.
About the Artwork
In the Summer of 2015, I attended a week-long painting intensive at CoSM and the studio of Alex Grey and Allyson Grey. This painting is the fruit of that adventure. The graphical elements for this work were transposed straight from my sketchbook. I had been pondering the idea of a bejeweled pineal gland for sometime and I wanted to create something charged with a sexual buzz and static energy interactions, hence the dual phallic Tesla Coils and plasma beams. Alex Grey did some work on this during the intensive and also gave the painting its name. Most of the work was done at CoSM but I also put in some work on this at the Mountain Music Festival at the New River Gorge in West Virginia.
About the Artwork
Hues of autumn and twilight color the sky, as the mighty screech owl emerges from a hidden nook. This fantastic scene was inspired by an overnight hiking trip at the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area with my wife and children in 2015. The haunting crystal moon was brilliant and filled the night sky with pale blue luminescence. Our heads were weary from our travels when we arrived upon our quarters. I unloaded the last of our gear from the vehicle when suddenly a screech owl’s shattering cry startled me from the tree line. I turned to look and behold, a piercing gaze caught me cold and we locked eyes for what seemed like eternity. The owl scanned my soul intently and seemed to examine every aspect of being. I began to squirm under its scrutiny and stepped hard on a twig. Snap! The sound alarmed my feathered friend and in a flash of lightning, the fierce screech owl took to the night. That was the last I saw of it. The next morning we ate breakfast ravenously in preparation for our hike through the beautiful landscape at Seneca Rocks. My encounter with the owl the night before stuck with me throughout the day and later in the evening as we rested, I sketched the initial roughs that would eventually become this painting.
